Misconception: A person can choose to be born again. Fact: The opportunity to have a relationship with God and gain salvation is open to all. 6/9/2013 · Nicodemus had devoted his life to the study of the Scriptures, and yet he did not understand Jesus’ words (3:3), “Unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” To gain entrance to God’s eternal kingdom Nicodemus was counting on the fact that he had been born as a Jew and that he was not just an average Jew, but a Pharisee.
The Bible, however, teaches something completely different! This article will show that Jesus never taught that being reborn was something experienced by those who are alive (with one unique exception). The primary Scriptures on which the born again teaching is based are found in John 3.
